WooCommerce is a powerful and user-friendly tool that makes managing your online store’s inventory, pricing, images, and product availability easy—even if you’re not tech-savvy. This step-by-step guide will walk you through the essential tasks to ensure your store stays up-to-date and appealing to your customers. Recently, a client asked us to put together a simple guide on how to perform a couple of basic tasks in WooCommerce. So it just made sense to turn it into a new post in our knowledgebase.

1. Adding New Products

Adding new products regularly keeps your store fresh and attracts repeat customers. Here’s how to quickly add a new product:

  • Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
  • Click on Products > Add New from the left sidebar menu.
  • Enter your Product Name and create a compelling Product Description to clearly convey what you’re offering.
  • Scroll down to the Product Data section, select your product type (usually “Simple Product”).
  • Enter your Regular price, and if applicable, set a Sale price to attract more customers.
  • On the right sidebar, upload a clear and engaging Product Image and additional images to your Product Gallery.
  • Finally, click Publish to make your product available to customers.

2. Changing the Price of a Product

Adjusting your product prices can help you stay competitive and responsive to market changes. Follow these simple steps to update your pricing:

  • Go to your dashboard and click Products > All Products.
  • Locate the product you need to update and click Edit.
  • In the Product Data section, revise the Regular price or the promotional Sale price.
  • Click Update to confirm the changes and refresh your store instantly.

3. Adding or Removing Product Photos

High-quality images significantly enhance the appeal of your products. Here’s how to manage your product images effectively:

  • Navigate to Products > All Products in your WordPress dashboard.
  • Select the product you want to edit by clicking Edit.
  • In the right sidebar, click on either the Product Image or Product Gallery sections.
  • Add new images by uploading them directly or selecting existing ones from your media library.
  • Easily remove unwanted images by clicking the “X” on each image you wish to delete.
  • Hit Update to save your adjustments and refresh your store display.

4. Taking a Product Out of Inventory

Managing your inventory accurately helps maintain customer trust. To mark a product as out of stock:

  • From your dashboard, select Products > All Products.
  • Click Edit next to the product you wish to mark as unavailable.
  • Under Product Data, select the Inventory tab.
  • Change the Stock status dropdown to Out of stock.
  • Click Update to apply your changes.

If you prefer to remove a product temporarily without deleting it, consider changing its visibility to “Private” or “Draft.”

By following these clear steps, you’ll confidently manage your WooCommerce store and keep your product offerings attractive and up-to-date.
